Services for John Leroy Lewis, 55, of Temple will be 11:00 am on Thursday, January 8, 2015 at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple with Pastor Rick Reed officiating. Interment will follow at Temple Garden of Memories.

John Leroy Lewis went to his heavenly home on Sunday, January 4, 2015 at a local hospital.

John was born on August 23, 1959 to Edwin Smith Lewis, Sr. and Phyllis Mae Sexton Lewis in Wichita, Kansas. He graduated from Fredonia High school. John married his soul mate Darlene Turner on September 22, 1979 whom he loved and cherished for over thirty-five years. She was his support through his MS journey in which he founded his own support group and served as Vice President of the PCASG. He proudly served his country in the United States Army for 15 years. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 133, and the DAV Chapter 111.

His memories will be cherished by his loving wife; daughter, Tissy Machuca; brothers; Edwin Smith Lewis, Jr., Arthur Lee Lewis, Sr., Kevin Earl Lewis; four grandchildren; Christian Machuca, Aja Machuca, Jeremiah Machuca, Peyton Machuca; and numerous nephews and nieces.

Donations may be made to the MS Society 8111 N. Stadium Drive, Suite 100 Houston, TX 77054.

Visitation will be from 6 -8 Wednesday, January 7th at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home.
