Mr. John H. Laurie, Jr. 85, of Temple, died Monday, March 10, 2008 in a local hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple with Rev. Martin Knox officiating. Burial will be in Bellwood Memorial Park in Temple. Visitation will be from 12 noon until service time.

Mr. Laurie was born to John H. and Gladys Brink Laurie in Rock Springs, Texas on January 13, 1923. He was a U. S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, serving as a tail gunner on a B-17 bomber. He was the recipient of numerous military decorations. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a construction superintendent. Mr. Laurie had been a resident of Temple since 1950. He was a member of Knob Creek Masonic Lodge 401 AFAM. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Temple.

Survivors include his daughter-in-law, Cynthia Laurie of Austin; 3 grandchildren, David Sean Laurie, Jason Scott Laurie, and Jennifer Suzanne Laurie; and a great grandson, Robert Laurie. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Moody Laurie on April 22, 1996 and a son, John H. Laurie, III on November 19, 2005.
