John Kamas

Services for John Dale Kamas, 63, of Temple, will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, February 7 at a Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple. Burial will follow to Seaton Cemetery.
John D. Kamas died on Thursday, February 2, 2017 in Conroe.

John Dale Kamas was born on March 4, 1953 to Thomas Frank Kamas and Della Julia Surovik in Temple, Texas. John graduated from Temple High School. He worked for the Santé Fe Rail Road and the Dr. Pepper factory. He met and married Kathren Hawkins and later worked as a self-employed salesmen. Mr. Kamas was a family man. He enjoyed bar-b-quing and being with his grandchildren. They were always front row to the community events. He collected antique signage and bottles.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Thomas Kamas, and his favorite dog, Blitz.

Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Kathren; son, Steven Barnes; four daughters, Cynthia Lawrence and husband Chance, Cheryle Kamas, Christi Castro and husband Manuel, and Melissa Kirk and husband Ben; brother, Mike Kamas and wife Margie; sister, Barbara Jean Kovacevich; twenty-four grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and a host of nephews, nieces, and cousins.

A special thank you for all the prayers and support the family has received.

Visitation will be held from 6:00- 8:00 pm on Monday, February 6, at the funeral home.

Arrangements are in the care of Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple.
