Joe Petru

Mr. Joe Petru, 83, of Belton, died Thursday, March 13, 2008 in a Temple hospital.

Mr. Petru was cremated, and family services will be held at a later date.

Mr. Petru was born to Albin and Francis Janek Petru in Milam County on September 18, 1924. He had been a resident of Bell County since 1986, moving here from Beaumont, where he lived for several years. He had also been a resident of Cameron for several years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a truck driver for Exxon Petroleum Corporation. Mr. Petru was a Catholic.

Survivors include two sons, John Petru of Troy and Ed Petru of Morgan's Point; one daughter, Marsha White of Heidenheimer; one sister, Rose Senkel of Morgan's Point; five grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Leona Marie Petru on October 14, 2006.
