Joe Castaneda

Joe Castaneda, 92, of Houston, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend to many, passed away January 3, 2019. Joe was born in Temple, Texas December 28, 1926. He served in the Army in WWII, and made a living as a pressman for over 60 years.

Joe is preceded in death by his father, Jose Castaneda and his mother, Paula Arehiga Castaneda. He is survived by his devoted wife Jovita Castaneda; daughters Linda Shewell and Patricia Upperco; sons-in-law Larry Shewell and Don Upperco; and grandchildren Domingo Salazar, Rodney Shewell, Kelly Shewell, Charnae Shewell, Steven Shewell, Noelle Upperco, Ethan Upperco, and Dane Upperco.

A mass of Christian celebration will be held on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at 9:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Temple. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple from 5:00-7:00 P.M. with a rosary cited at 7:00 P.M. Burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery.
