Jo Ann Sudduth, a beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, passed from this life Sunday, March 16, 2025, in Temple, Texas. Born on July 6, 1937, in Temple, Texas, Jo Ann was the eldest of three children. She graduated from Temple High School in 1955 and dedicated her talents and time to the Temple Public Library, where she worked as a cataloger, a role that reflected her love of books and her passion for sharing knowledge with others.
Her greatest pride was being married to Joseph Boyce Sudduth, Sr., with whom she shared 52 wonderful years before he passed away. The depth of their bond was evident, even after his passing. Jo Ann carried his memory in her heart every day, eagerly awaiting their reunion after 17 long years apart.
Beyond her roles within her family, Jo Ann was known for her warmth and kindness. She possessed an extraordinary ability to make strangers feel at home. Many found themselves sharing their life stories with her in what seemed like mere moments, drawn to her friendly demeanor and genuine interest in the world and people around her.
Jo Ann also enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and needlepoint, and her enthusiasm for genealogy was not just a hobby; it was a calling. A lifelong member of Memorial Baptist Church, Jo Ann contributed her heart and spirit to her community, sharing her faith and kindness with those around her. She was also a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, further reflecting her commitment to honoring her heritage and family history.
Jo Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Morris S. and Mattie Lea Mitchell; her loving husband, Joseph Boyce Sudduth, Sr., daughter in law, Sue Ellen Sudduth; and granddaughter, Ashley Lynn Sudduth.
Survivors include sons, Joseph Boyce Sudduth, Jr., and Neale Wayne Sudduth and wife, Tracy; daughters, Corey Lee Gable and husband, Clayton, and Elizabeth Nell Sudduth; brother, Jamie Mitchell; sister, Martha Elizabeth Levy; and grandchildren, Joseph Harmon Gable, and Aaron Wesley Gable.
Visitation for Jo Ann will be held at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple, Texas, on March 21, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A funeral service will follow on March 22, 2025, at 10:00 AM, also at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home, 500 W Barton Ave, Temple, TX 76501.
