Jesse Arnold, a beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother went home to the Lord on December 24, 2011 at the age of 90. He was born on February 25, 1921 in Glendale, Texas. He was 1 of 12 children born to Charlie and Lela Arnold.
Jesse was a good and honorable man with a kind, caring heart. He was a hero to his family and our country. A proud World War II Army Veteran, Jesse enlisted in the service in 1940. He served in the South Pacific and was awarded the Silver Star, Bronze Star, and two Purple Hearts. He retired from the Army in 1963 and then went to work for Sears Automotive for another 21 years.
Jesse was a quiet and charming man who could always bring a smile to your face. He loved to fish, camp, dance and watch baseball, especially the Texas Rangers.
He was predeceased by his parents, siblings Clara, Myrtle, Rachel Anne, John, Tom, Jim, Gene, Richard and his first wife, Evelyn Berry Arnold.
He later remarried and is survived by wife, Madge Wendler Arnold of Temple, TX daughter Nancy Carrier and husband David of Grand Prairie son, Mike Arnold and wife Liz of Plano and granddaughter, Jessica Arnold of Stephenville. He is also survived by brothers Raymond Arnold of Trinity Dick Arnold of Rocky Mount, NC sister, Jane Rosenthal of Willis the Wendler Family, Stepchildren Dorothy Conder, Mary Jo Sledge, W.E. Davenport, Nettie Jean Davenport, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of dear friends.
A Funeral Service will be held 1:00pm, Thursday, December 29, 2011 at HarperTalasek Funeral Home Chapel, Temple. Jesse will be honored with full military honors at Pendleton Cemetery, following the chapel service, under the direction of HarperTalasek Funeral Home, Temple. A visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 6:008:00pm at the funeral home.
