Jeanette Mae Massengale, 75, of Temple, Texas passed from this life while surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, October 18, 2015. She was born November 7, 1939 in Temple to Clifford James and Myrtle Mae (Taylor) Jackson. She met John in cradle roll at Immanuel Baptist Church. Jeanette married John A. Massengale, the love of her life, on April 5, 1957 in Temple. She attended Temple High School.
She loved to cook, read, and travel. She collected recipe books from places that she traveled to and ceramic clowns. She never measured when cooking and cooked to taste. She loved being surrounded by her family, her children, and her grandchildren, which were the center of her life. Her laughter will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, John Wayne Massengale, her sister, Shirley Klapka and brother in law Lee Roy Klapka.
She is survived by her loving husband, John Massengale; three daughters, Cheryl Baker and husband Robert of Troy, Mary Ann Chandler and husband Kenneth of Morgan's Point, Linda Kay Copeland and friend Ed Decker of Temple; daughter in law, Joyce Massengale of Temple; two sisters, LaNell Dowd and Debbie Trivette; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive visitors from 6-8pm on Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple. The funeral service will be at 2:00pm on Thursday, October 22, in the chapel at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Temple.
