Jeanette Kownslar

Jeanette F. Kownslar of Temple passed away Monday, November 10, 2008 at a local hospital. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00pm Thursday at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple. Funeral services will be 10:00am Friday at the funeral home with Rev. Johnny Miller officiating. Graveside services will be 4:00pm Friday at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Mabank, Texas.

Jeanette Kownslar was born November 22, 1918 to Frank and Era Spencer Woodard in Anson, Texas. On September 5, 1975, she married Loyd Kownslar in Oklahoma. She worked as the supervisor of the clerical department for General Electric Medical in Dallas. In 1978, she retired after 28 years. Jeanette Kownslar was a member of the Business and Professional Womens Club in Dallas, Temple, and Cedar Creek Lake, where she served as President as well as holding many other offices. She was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Temple, and was one of the first women to be invited to join Kiwanis world wide. Ms. Kownslar was a member of the Bluebonnet Club, the Newcomers Club, as well as the Review Club of Temple. She also volunteered at the Cedar Creek Lake Library. Jeanette Kownslar was a member of Oak Park United Methodist Church in Temple. BRBRShe is preceded in death by her husband, Loyd Kownslar.

Survivors include brothers; J. Frank Woodard, and Bobby L. Woodard, both of Temple, and nieces; Linda Merriman of The Woodlands, and Leigh Ann Cloutier of Bastrop.
