Jeanette Brown

Services for Jeanette Brown, 82, of Whitney will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 16, at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple with Pastor Don Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Moody Cemetery.

Mrs. Brown passed away November 12, 2016 at a nursing home in Whitney.

Jeanette Brown was born April 21, 1934 to Walter Bartlet Mitchell and Josie Levinie Shelton Mitchell. She graduated from Moody High School and, on October 23, 1948, married Willie S. Brown. Jeanette attended nursing school through King's Daughters Hospital in Temple and worked as a nurse at King's Daughters until her retirement in the late 1980's. Jeanette had a caretaker's heart and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She collected beanie babies and Depression glass and enjoyed listening to Willie Nelson and decorating her home for the Christmas holidays.

Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Willie; daughter, Janet Faye Brown; and her brother, Arlon Eugene Mitchell, Sr.

She is survived by her son, Arlon "Skip" Mitchell, Jr. and wife Missy; her daughter, Sherry Dowdle and husband Bobby; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 16, at the funeral home.

The family wishes to extend a special thank-you to the caregivers at Park Plaza Nursing home in Whitney for the love and care they showed Jeanette.
