Jarrod Lee Kornegay, CWO2 (Ret.) passed away early morning on May 20, 2023, at his home in Lakeview, AR.  Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Monday, June 5th at Bellwood Memorial Park Cemetery in Temple, TX.

Jarrod was born June 12, 1966, in Waco, TX. After graduating from Chilton High in 1989, he enlisted in the US Navy. He served on the U.S.S. Shenandoah from 1985-1990; the Kidd Class Destroyer, U.S.S. Callaghan from 1993-1997; the U.S.S. Jarrett from 1997-2001; the U.S.S. Boxer from 2003-2005 and finally the U.S.S. Stethem in 2005 before retiring in 2007 with a rank of CWO2. His last duty assignment was as Beach Master Unit 1, NAB in Coronado, CA. Military awards are as follows: Navy/Marine Corps. He was awarded numerous awards, including Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Navy "E" Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Coast Guard Unit commendation, Southwest Asia Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Navy/Marine Corps Overseas Service Ribbon, Expert Rifleman Medal and Expert Pistol Shot Medal.

After he retired from the United States Navy, he took up the role of Captain at Edison Chouest Offshore for 10 more years until he made the decision to stay land bound with his family in 2017.

Jarrod preceded in death by his grandparents of Temple, TX, Walter & Geoffery Kornegay; maternal mother, Beryl Livingston; maternal grandparents Keith & May Newman and maternal sister, Sheryl.

He is survived by his parents, Joe & Kathleen Kornegay; sister, Karen (Tom) Buck, James “Michael” and Rachel; and maternal siblings Sue, Ruby, & Keith. His children and grandchildren: Hope Kornegay, Delilah & Evelyn; Maxwell (Tiffany) Van Duzer, Sophia & Eleanor; Molly (Daniel) Tarpening, Joel; and Sara (Vince) Hatfield, Atreyu, Sebastian & Jacob. Wife, Jennifer Kornegay.
