Funeral services for Januaria Salinas, 87, of Waco, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 8, at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple with Pastor Rick Reed officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Cemetery in Temple.
Mrs. Salinas passed away Thursday, June 22, in Waco.
Januaria Salinas was born February 2, 1930 in Leyte, Philippines to Mauricio Lomallo and Bonifacia Herona Lomallo. She married Olimpio Salinas in May 1949 and, in 1985, moved to the United States. She worked for a semi-conductor plant in California and was a caregiver for five years. She was also a homemaker and an excellent seamstress. Mrs. Salinas was very protective of her family and taught her children the value of working to improve their lives, respect for others, and the importance of close friends and family.
Mrs. Salinas is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Olimpio; daughter, Linda Taylor-Maple; son, Marcilino Salinas; and granddaughter Michelle Lee Zamora.
She is survived by seven daughters, Lucy Hutton and husband, Doug, Lionila Kearney and husband, Richard, Emilia Caranto and husband, George, Elsa Pica and husband, Saldo, Lucia Broussard and husband, Dedrick, Lucilyn Salinas, and Teresita Linhardt and husband, David; one son, Eddito Salinas; a brother, Valentine Lomallo and wife Linda; 42 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 1:00 -2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 8, at the funeral home.
