Janet Marie Powell

Janet Marie Powell passed away at the age of 90 at her home in Temple, Texas surrounded by her family.

Born to Gaylord and Louise Moreland in Ellsworth, Illinois, Janet had a wonderful and blessed life. She was married to the love of her life, Gordon Powell. They were married for 57 years prior to his passing in 2014. Janet had many hobbies and things she loved to do. On any given day when Janet was younger you could find her on the golf course or at the pool with her daughter, granddaughter, and friends. She loved doing DIY crafts with her granddaughter, Molly. She also loved to play Dominoes or Uno with her great grandchildren, Kylie, Alyssa, and Austin. Over the years she has gained a lot of lifelong friends, but the one that was nearest and dearest to her heart is Kathy Clark. She used to always tell me that Kathy wasn’t just her best friend, she was also family. She meant the world to her and always will to our family.

Janet is survived by her granddaughter, Molly (Jay) Klafka of Temple, TX, great grandchildren, Kylie, Alyssa, and Austin Klafka of Temple, TX.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Louise Moreland of Normal, IL; her father, Gaylord Moreland of Bloomington, IL; her daughter, Gayle Vandiver of Green Cove Springs, FL; her great grandchildren, Baylee, and Addison Klafka; her sister, Carolyn Klawitter of Bloomington, IL; and her brother, Lowell Ike Moreland of Bloomington, IL.

Special thanks go to The Delany at Lake Waco and staff for all the love and care that was shown to her in memory care. To Gentiva Hospice and staff for all you helped us with in the last few days of her life. You have forever changed our lives and we will forever be grateful.
