He died Saturday, January 17, at his home in Cameron.
Mr. Myers was born January 13, 1929 in Howesville, West Virginia to James Stanley Myers and Hazel Elizabeth Hartman Myers. He graduated from the Catholic High School of West Virginia and then later attended Westinghouse Technical College. He took his skills from college and started his own business, Jim Myers T.V. Repair. While living in West Virginia, he was proudly invited to play his own music on a live local radio station. Jim had a love for music, which came from him working as Tex Ritter's Road Manager and traveling with Faron Young, George Jones, and Little Jimmy Dickens. Jim moved to Texas in 1971 and took his business with him to 105 West Avenue M in Temple. He married the love of his life, his soul mate and best friend, Sherry Griffin, on March 2, 1981. He shared this music legacy with Sherry while on the road together for ten years. He was his family's hero.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; son Jimmy Myers; brothers Harlan, Paul, and Ham; and sister Ruddell.
His loving memories will be cherished by his wife of 34 years, Sherry; sons Jeff, Brad, Emory and Canyon; daughters Barbara, Patty, Jeannie, Charisma and Harmony; 17 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great grandchildren.
Donations in Jim's honor may be made to the Jim Myers fund. Proceeds will help with funeral expenses.
Visitation will be from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 23, at the funeral home.
