Mr. Forbes passed from this life peacefully on Thursday, August 10, at Isle of Watercrest in San Antonio.
James Andrews Forbes was born December 18, 1929 in Dallas, Texas to James and Anita Forbes. He left Texas, joined the Navy and later on the Air Force. He made his first career of serving our country working with the Avionics Maintenance Squadron. After 20 years in the military he retired as a Senior Master Sergeant and moved to north Austin to be closer to his family in Central Texas. He started his second career as a certified public accountant for the State of Texas.
Mr. Forbes was a lifelong student. He attended the University of Alaska, graduating with a bachelor's degree in business. He attended Golden Gate University, graduating with a Masters in Business Administration. After his second retirement from the state, he attended The University of Texas at Austin and studied whatever his heart desired. His passions in learning included science, languages and aviation. James enjoyed all of the time he spent in flight simulators in the Air Force and later on at home. As an Amateur Radio Operator, James fully immersed himself in the collection of antique radios. Mr. Forbes loved watching John Wayne movies and any classic movie from the 40's, 50's and 60's. His taste in music was eclectic, from Glenn Miller to Los Tucanes de Tijuana, from Hank Williams to Mozart. James was a very private person and modest about his many accomplishments.
Above all, in life, James was a genuine and magnanimous father and grandfather. The thing in life that Mr. Forbes cherished most in life was his children and grandchildren. His time with his two grandsons was something that always brought a smile to his face. He will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Mr. Forbes was preceded in death by his parents, Anita and James H. Forbes and a brother, Alvin Forbes.
Those left to honor and cherish his memory are his daughters, Melissa A. Forbes and Cristina Y. Dominguez and husband, Jose G. Dominguez; grandsons, Maximilian Jesus Dominguez, and Andres James Dominguez; brother, Leroy Forbes; and sisters, Elsie Crowley, Anita Henriksen, and Betty Youmanns.
