James Cook

James Howard Cook, 84, of Temple, passed away, December 28, 2011 at a local hospital. A funeral service will be 1:00pm, Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at HarperTalasek Funeral Home, Temple. Burial will follow in Bellwood Memorial Park under the direction of HarperTalasek Funeral Home. A visitation will be from 11:00am1:00pm, on Tuesday, prior to the service.

James was born July 26, 1927 in Nevada, Texas, the son of the late Desler Cook and Eula Bryant Cook. On May 3, 1947, he married Dorthey Ferrill Cook in Ganado, Texas. She preceded him in death in 2008. He served in the Army during WWII. He retired from Olin E. Teague Veterans Center, as Chief Cook after 34 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Dorthey, son Walter Howard Cook in 2000, and brothers Everett Cook and Verdie Cook.

James is survived by his daughters Julie A. Cook Beck of Coldspring, TX Adrienne CookPradel of Plano, TX sons Patrick Lee Cook of Houston Michael George Cook of San Diego, brother Thomas Lee Cook of Wichita Falls, TX sister Calla Havis of Dallas, TX 13 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 1 great, great grandchild, nieces, nephews and friends.
