J. Hill, Jr.

J. B. Hill, Jr., 83, of Lorena, and formerly of Temple, died Wednesday, August 27, 2008 in a McGregor nursing center.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, August 30, 2008 at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple with Rev. Jeff Loudin officiating. Burial will be in Greathouse Cemetery.

Mr. Hill was born to John B. and Helen Page Hill in Temple on April 19, 1925. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He married Mabel Bruce in Temple on August 27, 1949. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a construction analyst with the Veterans Administration. He was a longtime membr of Elks Lodge 138 in Temple. Mr. Hill had been a resident of Lorena since 1968.

Survivors include two sons, Jay Brent Hill and wife, Kristen of Georgetown and Phillip Mark Hill and wife, Deanne of Lorena; two brothers, Bert Hill of Ardmore, Oklahoma and Page Hill and wife, Francie of Temple; two brothers-in-law, Edgar Bruce and wife, June of Atlanta, Georgia and Rogers Bruce and wife, Edith Sis of Temple; five grandchildren, Ashley Hill and wife, Shelly, Lacey Hoffman and husband, James, Blake Hill, Whitney Hill and Madison Switzer; and four great grandsons, Haden Hill, Dalton Hill, Collin Hill and Hudson Hill. He was preceded in death by his wife on August 31, 2003.

Visitation will be Friday from 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
