Isabel Rivera

Funeral mass for Isabel R. Rivera, 88, of Temple will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 28 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Temple with Father Tom Chamberlain officiating. Burial will follow at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen.

Mrs. Rivera passed away on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at her home.

She was born June 17, 1930 in Lockhart to Marical and Felipa (Vargas) Rodriguez. She married Alejandro M. Rivera, Sr. on February 16, 1947. She worked in dietary at the V.A. Hospital from 1972 until 1986 when she retired. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.

Isabel loved to spend time with her family and she was a wonderful cook. She also enjoyed watching television, gardening and tending to her plants. She was a loving wife, devoted mother and beloved grandmother. She will be dearly missed by all who loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Marical and Felipa Rodriguez; her husband, Alejandro Rivera, Sr., and a sister, Consuelo Esquivel.

Survivors include six sons, Jose Antonio Rivera, Alejandro Rivera, Jr., Thomas Rivera, Pablo Rivera and wife Daisy, Edward Rivera, and William Rivera; three daughters, Rose Mary Perez, Lucia Vasquez and husband Raymond, and Lora Ann Farbo and husband Craig; three brothers, Ignacio Rodriguez, Pablo Rodriguez and Charlie Rodriguez; 21 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 pm on Wednesday, June 27 with recitation of the Rosary at 7:00pm at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple.
