Irene Finch

Irene Simpson Finch, 96, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, greatgrandmother, and aunt died February 25, 2012 in Temple, TX, after a brief illness. A native of St. Louis, MO. Irene was born March 14, 1915. She was a loving and devoted Navy wife to her late husband, Commander George I. Finch, graciously supporting his military service and enjoying interesting experience with each career move. They raised two sons and enjoyed an active, sporting lifestyle, including golf and fishing in Alaska and along the Gulf Coast.
Widowed in 1971, Irene moved to Temple, TX to be close to her family. Using her talent in arts and crafts, she coowned and operated American Handicrafts franchise for several years. Irene was a member of St. Francis Episcopal Church, where she was a longtime volunteer for the gift shop. She has enjoyed many dear friendships and the support of the church home ministry for the past few years.
Irene is survived by two sons and daughtersinlaw, Dr. Jim Finch and Cindy Schoeppel of Temple and Dr. Richard and Joy Finch of Hot Springs, AR, one grandson and granddaughterinlaw, Charles and Katherine Finch of Austin, TX, and her precious greatgranddaughter Emmeline Finch. Also surviving are her sisterinlaw, Mrs. Don Finch of St. Louis, MO, and her beloved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Nova Davis of St. Louis, MO.
The family thanks Sterling House assisted living and Dr. Roger W. Kylberg for their kindness and care.
A Graveside service will be 10:00am, Saturday, March 3, 2012 at Bellwood Memorial Park, under the direction of HarperTalasek Funeral Home, Temple.
