Services for Herman Soliz, 89, of Moody, Texas will be 2:00 pm Thursday April 2, 2015 at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple with Reverend Rumaldo Jimenez officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Temple then followed by a reception at the Harper-Talasek Family Center.
Mr. Soliz passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2015 at a local hospital.
Herman was born on August 25, 1925 in Seguin, Texas to Cecilio Soliz and Florentina Arguellos Soliz. He attended Moody High School and grew up working in the cotton fields. Herman met Katherine Cordova and they were soon married at the Methodist Church in Temple in 1950. His proudest moment was the birth of his first child and the start of their family. Herman was considered a simple man, enjoying the simple things in life like fishing and caring for his pets along with his grandchildren's pets. He started his own business then went to work for American Desk and retired after forty years of employment with the company. Herman was a member and served on the board at El Divinio Salvador United Methodist Church. He cherished God and his family.
Herman was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Aurelio Soliz, Dario Soliz, Ray Soliz, Daniel Soliz, Toby Soliz, and Apolinar Soliz; sisters, Juanita Yanez and Angelita Moyett; and son, Robert Soliz.
Survivors include his wife; sons, Herman Soliz, Jr; Alfred Soliz and wife Terrie; daughters, Dolores Starcher, Sally Coleman and husband Ronnie; brother, George Soliz; eight grandchildren, and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Wednesday April 1st from 6 - 8 pm at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to El Divinio Salvador United Methodist Church 2407 West Ave P Temple, TX 76504.
