Herbert Stokes

No services are planned for Herbert Wayne Stokes, 90, of Temple.

Mr. Stokes passed away Friday, February 9, at a local hospital.

Herbert Wayne Stokes was born October 1, 1927 in Ft. Worth, Texas to Hubert and Ruby Stokes. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II (1945 - 1948) and attained the
rank of Seaman 2nd Class. He was an Avionics Technician on Ft. Hood until his retirement. He was a Christian by faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Ruby, and by his wife, Peggy Rainey Stokes.

He is survived by three sons, David, Robert, and Gregory Stokes; a daughter Wanda Hoagland; a sister, Peggy Jordan; numerous grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to VFW Post #1820 to benefit disabled veterans in Temple.

Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple is in charge of arrangements.
