Services for Henry Edward Olejnik, 88, of Temple, will be 10 a.m. Thursday, February 6, 2014 at HarperTalasek Funeral Home in Temple with Pastor Wilbert Sohns officiating. Burial will follow at Bellwood Cemetery.
Mr. Olejnik was born November 13, 1925, in Temple, to Henry E. Olejnik and Francis Pitrucha Olejnik. He served in the United States Army in Europe during World War II and was awarded the American Theater Campaign Ribbon, the EAME Campaign Ribbon with 1 Bronze Star, the Good Conduct Medal, and the Victory Ribbon. He worked for HiLay Hatcheries, Western Hatcheries, and was a lifetime poultry farmer, cattle rancher, and raised pecans.
He was the former manager and cofounder of The Grove Water System helped organize and was a former board member of The Grove Volunteer Fire Department helped organize RVOS Lodge 58 at The Grove on December 7, 1967 and served as lodge sales representative until retiring in March of 2003 was a member of American Legion Post 133 and was a member of SPJST Lodge 47 in Seaton. He was a longtime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church at The Grove.
Mr. Olejnik is survived by his wife, Adeline Stoll Olejnik daughters, Karen Gayle Lary of Temple, Rebecca K. Coufal and husband David, of Troy brother, Johnny E. Olejnik and wife Esther, of Moody sisters, Evelyn Burgar, Ethel Martinez and husband Amos, and Peggy Lynch, all of Temple six grandchildren, Richard Lary, Christina Flores, Dustin Coufal, Russell Coufal, Cody Coufal, Tyler Coufal and nine greatgrandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers are Dustin Coufal, Russell Coufal, Cody Coufal, Tyler Coufal, Richard Lary, and Lee Flores.
The family requests that donations in Henrys name be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church at The Grove, 220 The Grove Road, Gatesville, Texas 76528.
Visitation will be 5 7 p.m. Wednesday, February 5, 2014, at the funeral home.
