Hellen Martin

Hellen Grace McFerrin Martin 76, of Temple died Saturday in a local hospital. Visitation will be 68 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday also at HarperTalasek Funeral Home in Temple with Rev. Shane OBrien of Rock Pointe Church in Leander officiating. Burial will be in Bellwood Memorial Park in Temple.

Mrs. Martin was born April 22, 1934 to James Calvin and Christine Bell Simpson McFerrin in Collin County, Texas. She worked as a telegraph operator for Santa Fe Railroad for many years. She also worked as manager for Temple Housing Authority from which she retired. Mrs. Martin has lived in this area for 40 years and was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Temple.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Billy Roy Martin in 1986.
She is survived by sons: Larry McConnell of Oregon City, OR and Michael Martin of Dallas daughters: Christy Martin of Seattle, WA, Brenda Spencer of Austin, Lisa White of Leander, Rhonda Martin of Austin and Rita Martin Moore of Cypress brother: Kenneth McFerrin of Borger and sister: Elizabeth Haynes of Borger 8 grandchildren and 3 greatgrandchildren.
