Services for Helen N. Levy, 89, of Temple will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple with Pastor Don Milne officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Nolanville.
Mrs. Levy passed away on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at a local hospital.
Helen N. Levy (Norris) was born on November 12, 1927 to Harwell Norris and Annie Husung in Killeen, Texas. Helen enjoyed playing bridge, traveling and visiting with numerous friends and relatives. Helen was recognized by the City of Temple for her dedication of service in the American Contract Bridge League, District 16, and as the Central Texas Bridge Unit 233 Secretary/Treasurer. Helen worked as a secretary to seven different administrators at the Veteran's Administration Center in Temple. Upon her retirement, Temple Mayor Danny Dunn proclaimed Sunday, December 6, 2015 as "Helen Levy Day". She was the Secretary/Treasurer of the Nolanville Cemetery Association from 2006 - 2015; Secretary for Children's Care of Texas, Inc., and a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Shirley Max Levy; her son, Tommy Rex Levy; and brothers, Harwell E. Norris, Jr., and Cecil C. Norris.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Patricia Bruner and her husband P.H; nephews, Joe Norris and his wife Cynthia, Harwell E. Norris III and his wife Pamela; nieces Elizabeth Suess and her husband Robert, Rebecca Celsor and her husband Dennis; five great-nephews and six great-nieces; two great-great nieces; and one great-great nephew.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. prior to the service on Thursday, December 22 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Helen's memory may be made to Immanuel Baptist Church, 1401 W. Central Avenue, Temple Texas, 76504.
Arrangements are in the care of Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple.
