In 2016, he fulfilled a lifelong dream of recording a CD titled Que Bonito En Mi Corazon. He retired from Santa Fe Burlington Northern railroad after 30 years of service. He led an active life and loved spending time with his family, watching the Dallas Cowboys and UT Longhorns, playing softball, hunting, fishing, working in the yard with Mary and barbecuing.

He is preceded in death by his parents Genobeba and Gregorio Martinez Sr.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 50 years, Mary; his sons, Michael with his partner Cesar, Eddie with his wife Shannon, and George Anthony with his fiancé, Kristy; his grandchildren, Alex and Ava; his brother Rickey Martinez; his sister, Janie Martinez; and innumerable nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members.
