Gonzalo Villanueva, Sr.

Gonzalo M. Villanueva Sr., age 64 of Temple, passed away Thursday, February 4, 2021 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 1 pm Friday, February 12, 2021 at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Temple.

Gonzalo was born on July 16, 1956 to Narciso and Gabriela Villanueva in San Carlos, Coahuila. He attended Del Rio High School. Gonzalo married Gloria Perez and they shared a beautiful life together, celebrating 38 years of blessed marriage together. Gonzalo loved the Dallas Cowboys, enjoyed hunting and was very musically talented, being able to play almost any instrument he picked up. He greatly enjoyed playing the guitar. He was a family man and loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was blessed with a large, wonderful family and he will be missed by those who knew and loved him.

Gonzalo is preceded in death by his parents, Narciso and Gabriela Villanueva; brothers, Lino Villanueva Sr., and Jose Roberto Villanueva Sr.; and beloved grandchild, Onica Villanueva.

Those left to honor and cherish his memory are his wife, Gloria P. Villanueva; step-father, Pablo Rodriguez; sons, Fidencio Fernandez, Gonzalo Villanueva Jr., Freddy Villanueva, Abel Molina; daughter, Ruby Ballesteros; step-son, Paul Villanueva; step-daughter, Elodia P. Villanueva; brothers, Narciso “Chicho” Villanueva Jr., Luis Martin Villanueva, Miguel Angel Villanueva; sisters, Sonia Villanueva, Gabriela Villanueva; 25 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

The family would like to extend a special Thank You to all their family, friends and neighbors for the support and love during this time.

A time of visitation will be held from 5-8 pm Thursday, February 11, 2021 at the funeral home.
