Gonzalo “Charlie” Vasquez passed away on Wednesday, February 6, 2026. He was 92 years old. Charlie was born to Pedro and Francisca Vasquez (Elizondo).
Charlie was born and raised in Bartlett but moved to Belton, where he resided and raised his family. He was united in marriage to Mildred “Corny” Vasquez, and together they shared 29 wonderful years, until her passing in May of 2015. Charlie retired from Superior Chaircraft after many dedicated years of hard work. A life-long Dallas Cowboys fan, he found great joy in playing softball. When Charlie wasn’t on the field himself, he could be found cheering on his children, grandchildren, and loved ones from the stands. Above all, he treasured time spent with family and friends. He was a devoted member of Christ the King Catholic Church, and a proud Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus, living his faith through service, fellowship, and unwavering devotion.
Charlie is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mildred Vasquez (Vriseno); sisters, Mary Padrosa, and Mamie Lopez; brothers, Johnny Vasquez, and Frank Vasquez; grandson, Nicholas Ramirez; and nephew, Robert Vasquez.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Johnny Vasquez (Celina), Michael Vasquez (Megan), BJ Soto (Jessica), Melissa Vasquez (Ismael), Tina Salazar (Leo), Linda Fuentes (Tino), Dora Saye, and Robert Soto III; brother, Constancio Vasquez; sisters, Josephine Velasquez, Becky Valdez, Lupe Vasquez, Janie Solis, Yolanda Scanlon, and Linda Gastelum; an abundance of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family invites friends to join them for a time of visitation on Monday, February 16, 2026, from 6:00PM-8:00PM, with the Holy Rosary being prayed at 6:30PM, at Harper Talasek Funeral Home in Belton, Texas. A funeral service is scheduled for Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at 10:00AM at Christ the King Catholic Church in Belton. Following the mass, Charlie will be laid to rest at North Belton Cemetery.
