Gladys Florence (Jakubik) Tyroch, age 88 of Seaton, Texas was born September 17, 1929 in the Red Ranger Community in East Bell County. After a long illness, Gladys passed away on October 2, 2017 in Temple, Texas. She was the second child born of four children to Olga Lesikar Jakubik (1899-1984) and Henry Martin Jakubik (1889-1965).
She married Benjamin Henry Tyroch in 1950. They made their home in Temple, Texas. After her husband's retirement in 1974, they moved to Seaton, Texas. She returned to the farm where she enjoyed a large portion of her youth. Gladys and Ben moved to the farm owned by her parents and previously by her maternal grandparents, Anna Trlica Lesikar and Frank Lesikar.
Gladys was extremely proud of her two sons (Rodney and Alan), her three grandchildren (Susan Tyroch Lynn, Christian Tyroch and Moriah Tyroch) and her two great-grandchildren (Scott Lynn and Abby Lynn). She was also thankful for daughter-in-law Pam Chlapek Tyroch's loving kindness. She considered Pam to be her daughter.
She graduated from Rosebud High School in 1947. She was a life-time member of SPJST #24 Flag Hall in Cyclone, Texas for which she received a Lifetime Achievers award earlier this year. She was confirmed at Ocker Brethren Church and was a long-term member of the Seaton Brethren Church, where she was a active in the Christian Sisters organization for many years.
Her interests were fishing, deer hunting, gardening and sewing. Gladys loved to cook large meals. She always made sure that everyone at the table had more than enough to eat!
Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ben (1922-1996), sister Ellen M. Jakubik (1927-1958), brother Frank J. Jakubik (1934-1998), half-brother Henry A. Jakubik (1919-1970), half-sister Lilian R. Tydlaska (1917-1982) and half-sister Lorene A. Haisler (1915-2012).
She is survived by Rodney Tyroch and wife Pam of Belton; Alan Tyroch, wife Roxanne and their two children of El Paso; her granddaughter Susan, husband Jeff and their two children of Houston. She is also survived by her sister Ramona O. McCall of Dallas.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 7th at Seaton Brethren Church. Reverend Denise Mikeska will officiate. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Church. Burial will follow in the Seaton Cemetery under the direction of Harper Talasek Funeral Home.
