Gladys Marek

Services for Gladys M. Marek, 79, of Temple, will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 30, 2012 at HarperTalasek Funeral Home in Temple with Rev. Joe Emmerson officiating. Burial will follow in the Seaton Cemetery. Visitation will be Sun., Jan. 29, 1 3 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Marek died, Wed., Jan. 25, in a local hospital.
She was born on Jan. 5, 1933, to Edward and Della Hejl Naivar in Bartlett , on Dec. 26, 1956, she married Woodrow Marek in Temple.
She moved to Temple in the mid 50s and worked with NaivarMarek Laundromats until the company sold in 1973. She later went to work in the canteen at the Veterans Administration in Temple and retired after 17 years of service. After retirement she was Financial Secretary for SPJST Lodge 47 for many years. Gladys also served as Kitchen chairman and Bar chairman at the lodge Audit committee for RVOS 5 member of Seaton Cemetery Board. She was a voting judge for Precinct 304 where elections were held in the family lodge.
Mrs. Marek enjoyed working in her flower garden, quilting, crocheting and raising different types of peppers. She loved cooking for her family and special events.
She was a member of the Ladies Auxillary, SPJST Lodge 47 and WFLA.
She is survived by husband of 55 years Woodrow Marek of Temple two sons Leonard Marek and wife, Doris of Temple Royce Marek, Houston.
One brother James Naivar, Temple.
Three grandchildren Jenny, Julia and Amanda four great grandchildren Jason Marek, Casie Riffle, Avery Magana, Ethan Magana.
In lieu of flowers , memorials may be made to the SPJST Lodge 47 or Seaton Brethren Church.
Following the service the family will receive friends at the Ratibor Country Grill, 10226 FM 2086, Temple, TX, 76501
