Gilbert James Lefner

Gilbert James Lefner, age 86 of Temple, passed from this life Thursday, June 8, 2023, at Baylor Scott & White Hospital. Services will be held Monday, June 12, at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple, with a visitation and rosary starting at 10 am and funeral to follow at 11 am. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery in Granger, Texas.

Gilbert was born on November 18, 1936, to Jacob and Marcella Vrabel Lefner in Jarrell, Texas. He married Martha Cepcar in Granger, Texas on October 10, 1964. Gilbert graduated from Jarrell High School and worked for American Desk for almost 40 years. He was a member of KJT Society and a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church for 58 years.

Gilbert is preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Straka and husband, Anton, Elenora Schwertner and husband, Felix, and Bernadette Kellerman and husband, Clarence.

Survivors include his wife, Martha Lefner; sons, Mike Lefner and wife, Raysa, and James Lefner and wife, Monica; granddaughter, Rebecca Lefner; great granddaughter, Violet Munos; sister, Alice Simek; brother-in-law, Johnnie Simek; and many nieces and nephews.
