Gilbert Gillmeister

Gilbert C. Gillmeister, age 89 of Temple, passed away Saturday, February 6, 2021. Private family services will be held.

Gilbert was born on October 8, 1931 to Louis and Paula Gillmeister in Temple, Texas. He proudly served in the United States Air Force. Gilbert was # 99 of the first 100 residents to live at the Veteran’s Home, and the last remaining. He will be greatly missed by all those who loved him.

He loved music and traveling and enjoyed reading. He had so much knowledge, he was known as a walking encyclopedia.

Gilbert is preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Paula Gillmeister; and brothers, Herman Gillmeister, Louis Gillmeister, Fred Gillmeister, Leonard Gillmeister and Emil Gillmeister.

He is survived by many nieces and nephews that he adored.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Kindred Hospice and the William R. Courtney Texas State Veterans Home.
