Services for Gertrudis Cardenas, 79, of Temple will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple with Reverend Raymundo Rodriguez officiating. Burial will follow in North Belton Cemetery at 2:00 pm.

Mrs. Cardenas passed away on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at a local hospital.

Gertrudis Cadenas (Trujillo) was born on January 30, 1937 to Francisco Trujillo and Juanita Castillo in Mexico. She met and married Oscar Cardenas in Mexico. They moved their family to America when she was in her 20's. She was a housewife who loved her family. She loved gardening, cooking and traveling.

She is preceded in death by her parents; a son, Efrain Cardenas; one brother; and two sisters.

Survivors include her husband Oscar of 64 years; son, Ciro Cardenas and wife Gracila; three daughters, Ofelia Cecilio and husband Jose, Gloria Ortiz and husband Amado, Martha Ortiz and husband Antonio; three brothers; two sisters; seventeen grandchildren and twenty-three great- grandchildren.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you for everyone's support during this time.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 - 9:00 pm with a service at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at the funeral home.
