Mr. George W. Bill Davis, 85, of Temple, and formerly of Manor, died in a Temple nursing center Thursday, September 24, 2009.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
Mr. Davis was born to Walter D. and Grace D. Silvey Davis in Rule, Texas on August 17, 1924. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He married the former June Hinton in Kenedy, Texas. He received a masters degree from the University of Texas at Austin, and prior to his retirement, was employed as an educator and administrator for more than 30 years. He served public schools in Corpus Christi, Austin, Belton, Temple and Killeen. Mr. Davis was a member of the Church of Christ. He had been a resident of Manor for 12 years, before moving to Temple in March of this year.
Survivors include his wife, June Davis of Temple; one son, Jack Davis of Clifton; one daughter, Anita Youngblood of Kingwood; two sisters, Blanche Boggs of Waco and Lois Plemons of Haltom City; eight grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Mike Davis.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to Foster's Home for Children, 1779 N. Graham Street, Stephenville, Texas 76401.
