Genobeba Martinez

Services for Genobeba Matamoros Martinez, 86, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 29, 2014, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Father Tom Chamberlain officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery.

Mrs. Martinez died Sunday, January 26, at her home.

She was born June 3, 1927, in Temple, Texas, to Paulo Matamoros and Gregoria Arechiga Matamoros. She married Gregorio Martinez January 18, 1945 and he preceded her in death on March 3, 2000. She worked in the Maintenance Department of Temple Independent School District for over 20 years, retiring in 1997. Mrs. Martinez was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and a member of Guadalupanas. She lived in Temple all of her life and loved to garden and take care of her grandchildren.

She is survived by her sons, George Martinez and Ricky Martinez, of Temple her daughter, Janie Martinez of Temple eight grandchildren, and twelve greatgrandchildren.

Visitation will be 6 8 p.m. Tuesday, January 28, at HarperTalasek Funeral Home in Temple. Recitation of rosary will be at 7 p.m. with Deacon Vela officiating.
