Garlen Shuffield

Services for Garlen Lynn Shuffield, 73, of Temple will be held privately at a later date.

Garlen "Lynn" Shuffield died on Sunday, October 1, 2017 at a local hospital.

Garlen L. Shuffield was born on December 9, 1943 to Wilburn Shuffield and Minnie Ingram-Shuffield in Cameron, Texas. Lynn worked for American Desk Manufacturing. He was a member of Memorial Baptist Church and the Sunshine Haven Sunday School Class. Garlen was an accomplished organist and pianist, and loved listening to the organ music at church. He was often found playing hymns in his Sunday School Classroom on their piano. He couldn't read music, but played by ear. He was a train enthusiast and collected model trains for over 50 years. He enjoyed Temple's history with his collection of the Temple Daily Telegram newspapers. He appreciated flowers, fellowship, and his friends in Cameron. He leaves behind a life lesson to encourage people to have a greater understanding of people with special needs.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and a sister Odesa Bryant.

Survivors include his brother, Van Shuffield and wife Gayle.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sunshine Haven Sunday School Class Mary Hill Davis Offering at Memorial Baptist Church, 6161 S 5th St., Temple, TX 76502.

Services are in the care of Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple.
