Fred Winkler

Funeral Services for Fred Oscar Winkler, 90, of Temple, will be held 3:00 PM Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Temple. He will be laid to rest at Saint Paul Lutheran Cemetery in The Grove following the services. A time of visitation will be held from 5 to 6 PM Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple.

Mr. Winkler passed from this life on January 5, 2019. Fred Oscar Winkler was born July 31, 1928, to Oscar F. and Anna Beisert Winkler in Loebau, TX.

Fred worked for the Texas Department of Transportation before retiring after 34 years. Fred loved spending time with his family. Traveling, playing golf, fishing, he was very active in church activities whether singing in the church choir, teaching Sunday school, being an elder, or performing any other tasks needed.

He was preceded in death by his parents; seven brothers; and one sister.

Those left to honor and cherish his memory are, his wife Gracie Arldt Winkler; one son, Gordon Winkler; two daughters, Julia Turner and husband Terry and Jean Brothers and husband Tom; three brothers, Ernest Winkler, Sam Winkler, and Norman Winkler; seven grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren; as well as many other beloved friends and family.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to The Lutheran Hour Ministries 660 Mason Ridge Center Drive St. Louis, MO 63141.
