Fletcher Hejl Greenwood, age 59, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 13, 2020 at his home in Austin, Texas. A family graveside service will be held on Friday, October 9, 2020 at 11:30 AM at Bellwood Cemetery in Temple.
Fletcher was born in Temple on July 31, 1961 to proud parents, Samuel Ross Greenwood and Clara Ann Hejl Greenwood. He grew up in Temple and was a 1980 graduate of the State 5A football championship Class of Temple High School. He also attended Temple Junior College. Fletcher love the outdoors, and was an avid golfer. He especially loved trips to west Texas and the Davis Mountains with his dad and brother, as well as trips to the beach and the Hill Country. Fletcher loved people from all walks of life, and truly never met a stranger. Despite hardships in his life, he never lost his positive spirit and jovial disposition. It was these setbacks which led him to his passion in life of helping people in need. He entered the program at the Salvation Army in Austin, and worked there for six years, becoming one of their most effective spokesman. He also worked for Habitat for Humanity, and at the time of his death, he was a Supervisor at Goodwill Industries in Austin.
Fletcher is survived by his proudest achievement, his two children: AllieAnn Morgan Greenwood of Alvin, Texas and Mason Douglas Ross Greenwood of San Marcos. He is also survived by his sister, Gayle Greenwood Pitts of Houston, his step-mother Sindy Greenwood of Salado, and numerous nieces, nephews, aunt, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his beloved brother, Samuel Tillian Greenwood II of Temple, and his parents.
