Ethel Mae Johnson Stinnett, 79, of Temple, passed away Sunday, September 30 at her home. Funeral services will be held at 1 pm Thursday, October 4 at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple with Pastor Harlan Haines officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Temple.
Ethel was born June 16, 1939 to Olie and Elizabeth (Gibbons) Johnson in Owensboro, Kentucky. She married Lowell Thomas Stinnett and together they had 4 children. A strong woman and devoted mother, Ethel cared so much for her family and always made sure they were well taken care of and most of all, happy. She lived her life to the fullest every day, and greatly enjoyed road trips, shopping and going to estate sales. She was always so welcoming, with open arms, inviting everyone over for supper and back porch sitting. She delighted in her visits from her grandkids and great-grandkids, she loved those babies so much. Her family will always remember her delicious chili and no one will ever make biscuits and gravy quite like her. Her home was always so full on birthdays and holidays and she wouldn't have had it any other way. She truly was the glue that held her family together, through good times and bad. Ethel loved sharing with her family and friends on Facebook, watching children grow and re-connecting with distant loved ones.
Ethel was preceded in death by her parents, Olie and Elizabeth; and her husband, Lowell Thomas Stinnett, Sr.
Those left to honor and cherish her memory are her sons, Tommy Stinnett, Jr. and Jennifer; Donnie Stinnett and Dawn; and Steve Stinnett and Kim; her daughter, Sherri Drabick and Tim; her brother, David Johnson and Rita; her two sisters, Dorothy Pierce and Betty Drury; 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm on Wednesday, October 3 at the funeral home.
