Our beloved Mother, Esther B. Carr, slipped quietly away on Saturday May 13, 2017. She has joined her 6 siblings, Emilio Gandara, Erasmo Gandara, Erheminia Perez, Eulalia Cruz, Erlinda Garcia, Evengelina Carrizal; daughter Gladys Powell Reisner; and husband Harvey L. Carr in her new Heavenly home as promised by our Lord Jesus Christ.
She was gifted to us all on January 9, 1927 being born to Innocencia and Ildefonso Gandara in Galveston, Texas. Her Father died when she was 10 years old, their lives changing forever. She grew up in Galveston and ended up in El Paso in her early 20`s where she met and married our Dad. His career in the Army kept him away a lot, leaving my mom to care for us all.
She moved to Temple in the early 60's making a new life for us and meeting awesome lifelong friends along the way. Her life was full of exciting stories from places to include Greece and Bangladesh where she lived for 5 years. She enjoyed all children, exotic pets, music, being outside with a campfire, a glass of red wine, a good cup of coffee in a glass, watching wrestling with the boys, being around friends and family, and sharing and caring for others.
Home was always where MOM was. You could feel her love was real. She smiled to the end and never complained. She will live on in our hearts forever and through the many memories we share.
She will be profoundly missed by all especially her children, daughters ; Loretta Santos-Buch and husband Jorge (Chico), Susan Knobloch and husband Mark, Kathy VanEaton and husband John, sons; Harvey J. Carr and wife Mary Helen, Elifonso Gandara and wife Carolyn, Raymond Carr, Jack Carr and wife Shawn. Her 17 grandchildren and 20 great-grand children are blessed to have known and loved her.
We would like to give special thanks to Dr. Fasolino with Scott and White for his loving care. The caring awesome staff from Park Place Manor in Belton and the loving folks from Kindred Hospice.
Family visitation will be at Harper Talasek Funeral Home in Temple from 6 - 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 16. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 17, at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor W.C. "Dub" Falsone officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Children's Advocacy Center of Central Texas, 402 N. Main Street, Belton, Texas 76513.
