Ernest Gingles, Jr. passed away on July 28th, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Memphis, TN to Josephine and Ernest Gingles, Sr. He graduated from Clarksville High School in Clarksville, TN and attended Austin Peay College on an athletic scholarship. Ernest excelled in several sports including judo while living in Japan. He was a seaman for 36 years and worked his way up to captain on a deep-sea tugboat. His travels took him to several interesting locations including Peru, Brazil and Scotland.
Ernest is survived by his wife, Olga of Temple, TX, son, Ernest Gingles III, of Temple, TX, his daughter, Ginny Dobbs Gingles of Louisburg, KS, his granddaughter, Melissa and husband Aaron Hill of Olathe, KS and great granddaughter, Delaney, sister Eva Cummings of Sebastian, FL and several loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Josephine Cuneo, his father Chief Warrant Officer Ernest Gingles, Sr, his brother William Gingles, his stepmother Margaret Gingles and nephew Todd Gingles.
A memorial service will be held at 11 am Saturday, September 7, 2024, at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple.
