Enriqueta “Candy” Mungia, age 77 of Temple, passed from this life Monday, January 30, 2023, at Baylor Scott & White Hospital. Services will be held at 1 pm Saturday, February 11, 2023, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Temple. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.
Candy was born on July 15, 1945, to Leon and Catherine Zaragoza in Temple, Texas. She may have only given birth to three kids, but she was a mother to many more. She always stepped up and was there for her family. Candy showed great strength and faith in God till the end. She loved playing Skip-Bo with her sister, Lola, and cooking tortillas for her family. Candy loved reading the daily verse with her cup of coffee. She lived a simple life but left a great impact on her family. She always reminded her granddaughter to “say a prayer” and to have faith. That was the kind of person she was.
Candy was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband of 38 years, Henry Mungia; brothers, Fermin Zaragoza, Estaban Zaragoza, Heriberto Zaragoza, Natalio Zaragoza, and Johnny Mojica; sisters, Rufina Mungia, and Delfina Pittman; and son, Michael Mungia.
Survivors include her sons, Daniel Mungia and wife, Paige Mungia, Ernie Trejo and wife, Misty Trejo; daughters, Rita Mungia and husband, Joaquin Gonzalez, Natalie Olalde, and Lucy Tapia; grandchildren, Jaxson Trejo, Alexis Trejo, Kandi Hernandez, Cassandra Gonzalez-Brown and Jr Gonzalez, Erik Mungia, Ashley Mungia, Ricky Mateo, Cecelia Mungia, Andrew Mungia, and Mikey Mungia, Samuel Mungia, Grace Mungia, and Jeremiah Mungia; and great grandchildren, Larissa, Aaliyah, Adrian, Elise, Elijah, and Ava.
