Services for Encarnacion "Joan" M. Castillo, 89, of Temple, will be held on Thursday, March 30th at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Burial will follow in procession to Bellwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Castillo passed away Monday, March 27, at a local care facility.
Encarnacion Mojica Castillo was born on March 25, 1928, to Genaro Mojica and Leonarda Espinsoa Mojica in Temple, Texas. Joan was a housewife and loving mother. She certainly was the matriarch of the family teaching faith, family values, and how to stay together. She enjoyed cooking, baking and sewing. She enjoyed decorating her home with various live flowers. She was a proud grandmother who spent her time with her family. She would always have the home prepared with coffee and various cakes. She married the love of her life, Raymond Castillo, on November 1, 1951. Her greatest teaching was faith the understanding that our Lord is our Savior and Church was an important part of daily living. Her hobby was visiting various churches around Texas. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and served the church as a Guadalupana.
She was preceded in death by parents; husband Raymond; three brothers, Richard Mojica, Willy Mojica, John Mojica; three sisters, Luz Cruz, Dominga Mojica, Patsy Mojica.
Survivors include four sons, Johnny M. Castillo(Carol), Angel M. Castillo (Janie), David M. Castillo, Jim M. Castillo; Daughter, Cora C. Vargas(Miguel); two brothers, Tony Mojica, Andrew Mojica (Hope), twenty grandchildren and twenty-seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 29 at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple. Recitation of the Rosary will be from 7:00 p.m. - 8:00 pm.
Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple is in charge of arrangements.
