Services for Elizabeth Crockett, 94, of Temple, will be 3:30 p.m. on Monday, September 15, 2014 at Bellwood Memorial Cemetery with Pastor Elwyn Johnston officiating.
Mrs. Crockett died Thursday, September 11, at a local nursing facility.
Mrs. Crockett was born October 25, 1919 near Mexia, Texas to Roland Earl Hinchliffe and Mirtle Willis Hinchliffe. She graduated from Mexia High School in 1937. She received a Bachelor of Science degree from Texas Womans University in 1942 and later attended Mary Hardin Baylor in 1951 and received additional teaching credits.
Elizabeth married 1st Sgt. William Adrial Crockett in 1942 in Medford, Oregon and taught school in Jacksonville, Oregon while he was stationed as a soldier at Camp White in Medford. She worked at North American Aviation during the war years. After Williams return home from overseas, they settled in Odessa, Texas and later in Temple where Elizabeth taught school in Academy and Temple. She was a member of Bethel Assembly of God Church in Temple.
Mrs. Crockett was preceded in death by her husband of fiftysix years, William Crockett, and a sister, Rose Marie Riddle of Austin.
She is survived by a daughter, Ann Andrews and husband Duke of Temple and Goldthwaite sister Helen Hinchliffe of Dallas brotherinlaw Al Riddle of Austin granddaughter Amanda Andrews of Austin nieces Nancy King of Dublin, California and Joan Styx of Austin and their children.
Visitation will be 4 6 p.m. on Sunday, September 14, at HarperTalasek Funeral Home in Temple.
The family wishes to thank Scott and White Hospice and Wellington Place Living and Rehabilitation for the excellent and loving care they provided Elizabeth.
The family suggests that memorial donations in Elizabeths name be made to the Bethel Assembly of God Church, 22621 SE HK Dodgen Loop, Temple Texas 76502.
