On June 15, 2025, Mrs. Elizabeth Ann Tippit passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home in Temple, Texas. Born Elizabeth Barfield, Liz grew up and graduated from Buckner Children’s Home in Dallas, Texas. After graduating, she attended Baylor University until finding her true calling in life, motherhood and caring for people.
Liz work as a waitress for many years for several restaurants in the Temple area, such as The Old Original, Doyle Phillips Steakhouse, and The Captain’s Table. She also worked to serve people at the contracted post office in Temple, before devoting nineteen years of her life to Wilsonart and eventually retiring there.
Liz was a wonderful daughter, sister, wife, mother, and friend, loving and nurturing even more who affectionately called her mom or granny. She raised two sons from her first marriage, Michael and Wayne Aycock, whom she loved dearly. Liz was a warm and compassionate Christian woman and a long-standing member of the Dyess Grove Baptist Church. She loved butterflies, reading, pretty punch, gardening, keeping her yard beautiful, and taking care of her precious dog, Luna.
Liz is preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Vivian Barfield, her younger brother, John Barfield, and her beloved husband, Carl Tippit. Liz is survived by two brothers, James Barfield of Dallas, Texas, and Billy Barfield of Ardmore, Oklahoma, a younger sister, Violetta Schlebach of Ennis, Texas, two sons, Michael Aycock and his wife, Dolores, and Wayne Aycock, two granddaughters, Jessica Van Wagenen and her husband, Adam, of North Carolina, and Kristina Aycock, and five great-grandchildren, Keelin, Cassidy, Morrigana, Madison and Annibelle.
A celebration of life service will be held September 19, 2025, at 2:00 P.M. at the Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Belton, Texas, with internment to follow at Temple Garden of Memories. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Alzheimer’s research. To Harper-Talasek Funeral Home, words can never express our gratitude for their unrelenting compassion and service to the family during this difficult struggle.
