Elizabeth Jones

alignjustifyElizabeth M. Jones, 85 of Lubbock and formerly of Temple, passed away Saturday, October 18, 2008 in a Lubbock nursing facility. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00pm Wednesday at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple. Funeral services will be 10:00am Thursday at First Christian Church in Temple with Rev. Don Lynn officiating. Interment will follow at Bellwood Memorial Park. BRBRMrs. Jones was born June 8, 1923 to Marion and Nell Davis Miller in Fort Worth, Texas. She married Kenneth H. Jones in 1945 in Cleburne, Texas. While attending Texas Christian University, she was assistant to the Executive Director of Christian Womens Fellowships in Texas. She had been a secretary for the Brasosport School System in Freeport before moving to Temple in 1950. She had been a secretary for the First Christian Church in Temple and for the State Soil and Water Conservation Board. She moved to Lubbock in 2004. BRBRShe is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Jones on January 6, 1995, and a granddaughter, Emma Elizabeth Duke on October 29, 1997. BRBRSurvivors include two daughters, Mrs. Vickie Holder of Lubbock, and Mrs. Kathy Duke of Austin, one sister, Mrs. Martha Owens of Burleson, 4 grandchildren, 3 great granddaughters, one niece, and two nephews.
