alignjustifyMrs. Effie Louise Jernigan Easterwood, 76, of Temple, died Sunday, April 5, 2009 in a Temple hospital.

alignjustifyFuneral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday at Bethel Assembly of God Church in Temple with Rev. Elwyn Johnston officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery in Temple.

alignjustifyMrs. Easterwood was born to William Thurman Jernigan and Effie Mae Sissom Jernigan in Temple on January 30, 1933. She was a life-long resident of Temple. She married George L. Easterwood in Marlin on December 13, 1952. Mrs. Easterwood was a member of Bethel Assembly of God Church. She held a lifetime membership in Ladies Auxiliary of V.F.W. Post 4008 in Belton, and was also a member of the Salado Art Guild.

alignjustifySurvivors include her husband, George L. Easterwood of Temple; one son, Willie Michael Easterwood of Sperry, Oklahoma; one daughter, Brenda Lea Perry of Temple; two brothers, Louis David Jernigan of China Springs and James Thurman Jernigan of Weatherford; one sister, Alma Miriam McBride of Temple; seven grandchildren; and six great grand-children. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Katherine Laverne Womack in 1980.

alignjustifyVisitation will be Wednesday from 6-8 P.M. at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple.
