Edwin "Lil Ed" Zavala

Edwin “Lil Ed” Zavala, age 22 of Temple, passed from this life Monday, December 12, 2022, at Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Temple. Services will be held at 10 am Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Temple. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Temple.

Edwin was born on August 11, 2000, in Temple, Texas to Jose Jesus and Dora Elvia Zavala. He graduated from Temple High School in the Class of 2019. Edwin was a good soul that loved his family. He was always the one to show up if you needed help, he put others before himself, and always had a smile on his face that would light up any room he entered. Edwin wanted to travel the world since he was little. When he got his CDL, he was able to work while seeing the country from the East Coast to the West Coast, and from Canada to Mexico. When he found out he was going to be a father, he was so nervous, but excited and happy as well. He loved his daughter, who he nicknamed “Avi.” Edwin was so popular wherever he went, he was known, always dressed to impress, he just loved to be seen. No matter who you talked to, anyone that knew Edwin never had anything bad to say about him. He was a good friend, an overprotective uncle, a playful brother, a caring son, and a loving father. He will truly be missed.

Edwin is survived by his parents, Jose Jesus Zavala, and Dora Elvia Zavala; brothers, Angel Alejandro Ortega, Jesus Adams Zavala Ortega, and Irvin Zavala; sisters-in-law, Sheila Zavala, and Tabitha Ortega; daughter, Aviana Luna Zavala; nephew, Armando Alejandro Ortega; nieces, Lauren Amari Zavala, Julissa Michelle Zavala, and Kaitlyn Yvette Ortega; and grandniece, Kamila Rose Ortega.

A time of visitation will be held from 5-7 pm with a rosary recited at 6 pm Tuesday, December 20, 2022, at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple.
