Edmond Newton

Private military services for Edmond James Newton, 85, of Temple will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, April 28, at the Central Texas State Veteran's Cemetery in Killeen.

Mr. Newton died Thursday, April 7, 2016, at a local hospital.

Edmond Newton was born January 5, 1931 in Bronx, New York. Mr. Newton enlisted in the United States Army in October 1951 and proudly served his country for 24 years. He was a recipient of two Purple Hearts and the Army Accommodation Medal with a V for Valor. He loved fishing and riding motorcycles. He fulfilled God's commandment to love his neighbor and was helpful, kind and giving to everyone.

Mr. Newton was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and brother.

He is survived by a son, John D. Yarbrough, of Pleasanton.
