Dell Arnold, 102, of Temple, Texas, lived a remarkable life centered on faith, family, and devotion to those she loved. Born on August 9, 1924, in Bryan, Texas, at the family home on West 24th Street, she was the daughter of Charlie and Etta Mae Griesser.
Dell graduated from Bryan High School, and shortly thereafter, she eloped with the love of her life, Francis Paul Arnold Jr., on June 23, 1941. Together, they began a lifelong journey filled with love, family, and adventure. Their early years took them to Indiana and Illinois before they eventually returned to Texas. While Paul continued his education at Texas A&M University, Dell devoted herself to raising their growing family. They welcomed four sons, and her role as a mother became one of the greatest joys of her life.
Over the years, Dell and Paul made homes in several places, including Fort Worth and Los Angeles, California. After spending two years in Los Angeles, they returned to Fort Worth before eventually moving to Dayton, Ohio, in 1969, where Paul worked with the Frigidaire division of General Motors. Following their years in Ohio, they settled in Dallas, where they enjoyed retirement before moving to Temple to be closer to the medical care available at Scott & White and nearer to family.
After Paul’s passing in 1996, Dell continued to embrace life in her own way. She devoted her time to church activities, enjoyed visiting antique stores, and treasured the companionship of friends. Her faith and love for the simple pleasures of life remained important parts of who she was. In her later years, Dell spent twelve years at Elmcroft/Sodalis Senior Living. Her family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff for their kindness, compassion, and loving care they provided.
Dell was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Francis Paul Arnold Jr.; her parents, Charlie and Etta Mae Griesser; her son, Francis Paul Arnold III, who passed away on December 6, 1984; her sisters, Charlene Griesser Reese, who passed away on June 23, 2023; and her brother Bob Griesser, who passed away on March 8, 1992.
She leaves behind her loving sons, Michael Bryan Arnold of Fort Worth, Texas; Randall Eric Arnold of Temple, Texas; and Kenneth Charles Arnold of Kempner, Texas; her sister, Dianne Griesser Wolfington; and a large and loving family of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.
She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a cherished presence in the lives of those who knew her. Though she will be deeply missed, the love she gave, the memories she created, and the family she nurtured will continue to carry her spirit forward for generations to come.
