A Mass of Christian Burial for Eddie Edwards, 88, of Temple will be celebrated at St. Marys Catholic Church in Temple on Wednesday, August 14, at 10:00 am with the pastor, Rev. Ranjan Cletus officiating and the Reverend Timothy Vaverek as concelebrant. Burial with full military honors will be at Hillcrest Cemetery.
Mr. Edwards died Sunday morning, August 11, in his home in Temple.
Eddie was born on November 13,1925 at Flatwoods, La. to Delia and Edgar Edwards. He was a distinguished WWII veteran, who retired from military service in 1966, after which he built a new career as Executive Housekeeping Director of Scott White Memorial Hospital, from which he also retired after 20 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Almedia Guy and a brother, D.J. Arnold.
Survivors include his wife, Loris Nickel Edwards, after 59 blessed years of marriage, a sister, Shirley Mills, and two nieces and five nephews and a host of cousins and loving friends.
Visitation will be held at St. Marys Catholic Church on Tuesday, August 14, from 6:00 to 7:00 pm, followed at 7:00 pm by a rosary.
Memorials may be made to St. Marys Catholic School Trust Fund.
